The Smithsonian homepage is using my photograph since I took part in a photo competition. I had not given my permission to use the photograph for commercial reasons, but in their policies, which I had to agree on, somewhere deep down they had informed all participants about it. Even it is not really legal. I wonder how a renowned institute, even if its non profit, uses this kinds of methods and does not compensate material which they use to sell journey for more than a couple of thousand of Dollars.
